Collection fund
The current collection fund of the history department of Slovácké Museum contains nearly 16,000 objects with the two basic types being writings and 3D objects.
Existing collections of the history department of Slovácké Museum is made up of two basic types of material: written documents and 3D objects. Remarkable specimen include for instance a collection of militaria with a unique collection of shooting targets, medieval cutting weapons and firearms along with arms from World War II.
Real gems are objects documenting the past history of Uherské Hradiště: a late Gothic silver monstrance, a Renaissance crystal crucifix, and a silver seal. Among the most interesting writings are a set of old prints, mostly various editions of the Bible, collections of maps and plans, namely those of the Hradiště fortification. Lately we have been completing a collection of picture postcards of villages and towns of Uherské Hradiště District which is displayed at exhibitions but also studied by researchers such as architects and planners since the cards appear to be the only source of information about the looks of buildings, streets and parts of villages in the past. Also estate funds of famous personalities, e.g. Bedřich Beneš Buchlovan, Arnošt Hrabal or Rozka Falešníková are frequently used by researchers. New depositories built in the area of the former barracks in 2005 helped to better the care of the 3D object collections in the history department.
