Traditional Housing
The final part of the exhibition demonstrates a traditional habitation and a typical rustic house in Slovácko. The settling of this region has been known since prehistoric times and has its roots in mediaeval settlements. Individual dwellings protected their inhabitants excellently against bad weather and other negative influences creating good conditions for both farming and family life. The differentiation of types of houses depends on many indicators, climatic and natural conditions, ethnic, economic, social and cultural factors. Looking at miscellaneous types of rural houses and buildings which are very aptly presented in large illuminated photographs one sees that a lot of effort was put into making these dwellings serve a useful function both as a shelter and a nice place for family life. The photos include various types of landed property, residential streets, houses along roads and on squares. Even though this material is hard to display on a small area, it is artistically impressive to depict individual types of buildings – residential, outbuildings, small sacral buildings, architectural details and interiors of some residential houses such as black kitchens with funnels, ones with an open chimney, open fireplace, space with a furnace representing the main source of heat and light.
